Christian Education Department of CSI Synod has conducted a workshop on 'Relevant Pedagogies Today' at the CSI Retreat Centre, Kodaikanal from 9-11 May 2016. Sixty Christian educators from all the Dioceses, including the resource persons have engaged themselves in learning from one another. While Rt. Rev. Joshua, the former Bishop of Mumbai Dioces (CNI) has inaugurated the workshop with prayer, Rev. David Jebaraj, the Ministerial Secretary and the Director of JCM, CSI Madurai Diocese has delivered the Inaugural address emphasizing on the importance of Prayer, Preparation and Presentation’. After the welcome and introductions, Rev. Dr. Rohan Gideon led a session on Centrality of Children and challenges to Christian Education. He enabled the participants to approach the texts where children are found, from children’s perspective. Rev. Dr. Jayachitra Lalitha who spoke on 'Children in the Household Codes in NT' encouraged the participants to affirm the dignity of children. Dr. Prabhu, the Director of Kids Kount led sessions on High Impact Teaching Skills, Lesson Preparation and Presentation where participants learnt various teaching methods. Rev. Cecil highlighted the importance of making Churches Child -Friendly while Bishop Prasada Rao, Bishop in Rayalaseema and Chairperson of Synod Christian Education Department has encouraged the participants to adopt Jesus' teaching methods that are very close to the lives of people. Rev. Sujith did a Bible Study challenging the participants to be relevant in teaching today's children. The Holy Communion Service enabled the participants to renew their commitment toward effective ministry among children.
