VBS Directors Training Programme

The Department of Pastoral Concerns, Synod and Junior Church Ministries of CSI Madurai Ramnad Diocese have jointly organized the VBS Directors Training Program at Holiday Homes, Kodaikanal. The program is held from 8-10 April, 2016 in which nearly 150 VBS directors from all the pastorates of the Diocese attended. The theme for the VBS in Madurai Ramnad Diocese is ‘How Beautiful’ (Num 24:5). The entire syllabus is prepared by the Junior Church Ministries of the Diocese under the leadership of its Director, Rev. David Jebaraj. The Teachers’ hand books, Children’s hand books and VBS Songs CDs are produced for the Vacation Bible School to be held in the month of May.

Dr. Prabhu, the Director of Kids Kount, Bangalore and Rev. K. James Cecil Victor were the resource persons in this training program. While Dr. Prabhu helped the participants to understand the theme and daily lessons, role of VBS Director, Nature of Children Today and so on, a team of young people have taught skits related to everyday theme and the action songs. Rev. Cecil shared the principles of Christian Education and encouraged the participants to ensure the character building of the children.

Sunday morning, the devotion was conducted by Rev. Cecil on the theme ‘Re-reading the Scriptures with the Risen Lord’. There was camp fire and table fellowships where participants have rededicated themselves for a committed ministry among the children. The program was concluded with a communion service celebrated by Rev. Cecil while the word of God was shared by Rev,David Jebaraj. Participants have expressed their gratitude to the Bishop in Madurai Ramnand, Rt. Rev. Dr. M. Joseph, the Director of Junior Church Ministries, Dr. Prabhu and the Pastoral Concerns, Synod for organizing this Training of the Trainers (TOTs). These TOTs will help in the local VBS by training the teachers and volunteers.
