Chennai: The Church of South India, the first and biggest united and uniting Indian church, celebrated the 7 decades of the formation of the Church on the 27th of September 2017 with a Thanksgiving worship service and a public meeting in which thousands of the members of the Church and ecumenical leaders attended. A few of the new projects were announced in the public meeting.
New projects of the CSI Synod were presented before the people in this public meeting. Rev. Dr. Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda announced the formation of the Bible study groups commemorating the 500 years of reformation and the Regional Synods (Koinonia), a novel initiative by the Synod. One of the most ambitious projects, ‘One Church; One Web’, which brings the activities, projects, news and information of both the CSI Synod Secretariat and the 24 dioceses under one web space, the new website, was launched in the public meeting. This new website will be accessible to the public from the mid of October 2017. Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, the Director of the Communication Department presented the web to the public. Rev. Solomon Paul, the Director of the Synod Youth Department explained and launched the Youth DARE to DREAM programme focusing on ‘sharing through borderless witness and service’.
