Women DARE (Dalit & Adivasi Rural Entrepreneurs) is introduced by CSI-SEVA to bring to the fore micro entreprise initiatives of different women groups in South India, particularly of those Self Help Groups(SHGs) promoted and trained by the ministries of the CSI Dioceses over a period of several years. Women DARE will assess the production capabilities and capacities of these women so that a Strategic master plan can be drawn to market those products produced by these SHGs. Consequently the groups and individuals in groups can produce more and develop economically viable self-employment models. All products thus produced will be marketed by Women DARE.
To begin with, CSI-SEVA, collected various products like handicrafts, bags, tea leaves, other curry powders, bangles, cushions, garments. The products were produced by women groups of different dioceses namely Cochin, Kollam Kottarakara, Karnataka Northern, Madras, Madurai-Ramnad, Nandyal, Dornakal and Vellore. These products were part of the Exibition cum Sale in the CSI 70th Anniversary celebration which was held on the 27th of Septmeber 2017 at YMCA Grounds, Chennai. Representatives from all the 24 Dioceses of CSI who attended the celeberation visited the stall and patronized the products. The positive outcome of this initiative provided the confidence to look forward in expanding this initiative of developing a market strategy and network plan that sustains and promotes life affirming local market economy that stands up to the global empire.
Project Women DARE hopes to usher in an era of vibrant and JUST, self-sustained and life-affirming, local economy that affirms life and livelihood of Dalit and Adivasi communities involved in self employed micro enterprise.
