The Asian Ecumenical Institute (AEI) – 2017, a month-long annual ecumenical formation and leadership training course, offered by the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA), will focus on Mission and Ecumenism in Asia’s pluralistic context.
The AEI will take place from 25 September to 20 October 2017 in Yangon, Myanmar.
The participants of this year’s AEI will have the opportunity to attend the Asia Mission Conference (12-16 October) and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the CCA (15 October), which will also take place in Myanmar.
Focusing on the theme, ‘Prophetic Witnessing to the Truth and Light, in Asia’, the AEI – 2017 aims to train young ecumenists and prospective church leaders in Asia.
The AEI – 2017 is designed with a focus on providing in-depth insights and training for 30 selected young ecumenists who are interested in learning about ecumenism, the ecumenical movement and wider ecumenism on the foundation of one’s own Christian faith, tradition and heritage.
The training and opportunities for interactions will enable the participants in crossing boundaries across the denominational / confessional, cultural, social, economic and political strata. The course contents of this year will specially focus on CCA’s Asia Mission Conference theme, and will assist participants to learn about an ecumenical vision based on biblical and theological undergirdings in Asian contexts.
The opportunity to live together, worship and learn together in an inter-cultural and inter-denominational setting in Myanmar, as well as collectively finding ways of developing ecumenical responses to emerging Asian realities will be an enriching and unique experience for each participant of the AEI – 2017.
The participants will be selected from the applicants nominated by CCA member churches and councils.
