Workshop on “Positive Masculinity”

“The overall aim is to make a difference by transforming dominant forms of masculinity which are destructive to women, men, families and society as a whole” expressed the co -editor of the gender training manual “CREATED IN GOD’S IMAGE: from Hegemony to Partnership”-  Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock, who was the resource person for the Workshop.

A one-day workshop on “Positive Masculinities” was organised by CSI – Gender Equity Enabling Timetable (GEET) – CSI SEVA at the Chapel – LITE Campus, Chennai on the 6th August 2016.

World Council of Churches (WCC) and World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) had published a Church manual on men as partners to promote Positive Masculinities. A curiculum would be developed based on the manual and be discoursed at five strategic locations in each of the 24 dioceses.

The workshop engrossed on the Eight modules of the manual that enables churches and social organisations to promote gender justice and partnership of women and men through the development of leaders, who model good examples. Rev.Asir Ebenezer -Director CSI – SEVA welcomed the participants and gave a brief introduction to the workshop while highlighting the program components of CSI – GEET. The Directors of Synod Pastoral Concerns department & Synod Youth Department, Rev. Jacob Selvan -CSI -MDC, Rev.Paul Prakasam, Ms. Sarah Karunakaran -NSS Co- ordinator- MSSW, and CSI -SEVA staff took part in the workshop.
