The Department of Mission & Evangelism CSI Synod organized four days Refresher Course for Missionary Pastor’s & Mission Field in charges in association with Medak Diocese from 23rd to 26th February 2016 at Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad. This program was supported by Evangelical Mission in Solidarity and Henry Martyn Institute. 90 delegates from all the CSI Dioceses participated in this Refresher course. The participants had a privilege to have Worships, Bible Study, Paper presentations and group sharing on the theme “Transformational Mission Leadership”.
The inaugural Worship was led by Rt. Rev. Dr. A. Dharmaraj Rasalam, Chairman, CSI Mission & Evangelism and Bishop in South Kerala Diocese. Rev. S. Christopher Vijayan, Director, Mission & Evangelism welcomed the Leaders, Participants and other invitees. The Most Rev. Dr. G. Dyvasirvadam
Moderator, Church of South India inaugurated the event and delivered the inaugural address. Rev. Dr. Packiam T. Samuel Director, Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad, Prof. Dr. B. Vimal Sukumar, Treasurer, CSI Medak Diocese, Rev. Winston, Medak Diocese and Rev. Baskar, Medak Diocese shared their greetings. Rev. Dr. D. Rathnakara Sadananda , General Secretary CSI delivered the Key note address on the theme and encourage the missionaries to move ahead in missional engagements with the new perspectives.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. A. Dharmaraj Rasalam, Chairman, Mission & Evangelism CSI and The Rt. Rev. Dr. E. Pushpalalitha Bishop, Nandyal Diocese spoke on the integrity of mission workers and the need of Attitude, Accountability and Transparency in missional engagements. Rev. Asir Ebenezer, Director, CSI Seva spoke Transformational Mission Leadership and Social Engagements. Rev. K. James Cecil Victor Director, Pastoral Concerns presented a paper on Effective Learning Modules for Transformational Leadership.
Second day sessions started with the Bible Study led by Rev. Solomon Paul J. Director, Youth Concerns CSI Synod. On second day Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel S. Thiagarajah, Bishop Jaffna Diocese presented a paper on Theological Interpretations on Transformational Mission Leadership. Mr. J. S. Anbu Executive Director, Christian Institute of Management spoke on Effective Communication and Public Speaking for Transformational Leadership. Second day afternoon Rev. Dr. Packiam T. Samuel, Director, Henry Martyn Institute shared his thoughts on the theme Different Modules for Net Working with Religious and Social groups for Transformation. The Rev. Sunil Raj Philip, Director Communications and Dalit and Adivasi concerns shared his vision and activities for the department.
Third day all the participants were taken to Medak Cathedral for exposure visit. The Pastors and Church Committee received all the participants and welcomed them in a grand manner. The Holy Communion worship was led by the Presbyter in charge of the Medak Cathedral Rev. Y. Robinson led the Holy communion worship and Rev. S. Christopher Vijayan delivered Gods message. Rev. Winston, the Secretary of the Ministerial committee Medak diocese shared greetings on behalf of the diocese. Fellowship lunch was hosted by the Medak cathedral. In the evening the participants were taken to Birla Planitorioum, Lumbini Park and Tank Bund for visit. On the third day evening the Medak diocese hosted a very special dinner at hotel Paradise.
Fourth day sessions were started with Bible Study led by Rev. Dr. Royce Manoj Victor, Liaison officer, CSI-EMS. Rev. Canon John Kafwanka Kaoma, Director, Missions, Anglican Communion in London office explained about the Transformational Mission Leadership and Discipleship.
In this Refresher course participants shared their mission field experiences, which was mutually inspiring and encouraging. They had regional level group activity to plan about their future events in the dioceses and regions. In the concluding session Rev. M. Jayanand, Convener, Board of Mission & Evangelism, Medak Diocese shared his greetings and distributed gifts to all the particpants. Rev. Winston offered closing prayer and Rev. Dr. Royce Manoj offered benediction. Rev. S. Christopher Vijayan, Director, Mission and Evangelism CSI Synod extended vote of thanks.
